Reference something from their profile
The simplest reliable opener points at one detail in their photos or bio and asks about it. It proves you actually read the profile and gives them a ready-made answer.
Ask an open question
Questions that can be answered with yes or no stall fast. "You've clearly travelled — where's next on the list?" invites a real reply and a follow-up. Open beats closed every time.
Keep it short and light
One or two lines is plenty. A paragraph feels like pressure. The goal of the first message is only to earn the second message, not to win them over in one go.

- Ask: an open question about it.
